Jakarta (ANTARA News) - National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo bade a farewell to the maritime task force of the Garuda Contingent (Konga) XXVIII-I, which is set to join the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) here on Thursday.

The TNI chief also saw off a mechanized company task force of the Garunda Contingent XXXVII-C, which will join the Multi-Dimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (Minusca Car) of the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

He further said TNI soldiers will be assigned to keep global peace under the aegis of the United Nations.

"This is a special assignment in that they will serve as envoys of TNI, the nation and the state at an international forum," Gatot explained.

He said what TNI has done reflects its quality before soldiers from other countries, and has served to position Indonesia well in the eyes of other nations.

"Uphold respect for, and trust for the world community by improving achievement, performance and dedication," he told the departing soldiers.

In conclusion, the TNI chief reiterated his call for soldiers to ignore sectarian egos between Indonesian soldiers and their counterparts from other countries," he said.(*)
