Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A large explosion which occurred at a gas cylinder distributor at Jalan Harimau in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Sunday night was an accident, according to National Police Deputy Chief Commissioner General Syafruddin.

No one was killed. Three people injured in the incident are still in hospital.

"The explosion in Makassar is believed to be a workplace-related accident," Syafruddin said at the Bhayangkara square, National Police Headquarters, here on Monday.

Police are still investigating the cause of the explosion at the store.

"It is a gas cylinder distributor store. The explosion was possibly from a gas cylinder due to inappropriate storage, or the influence of temperature. The case is still under investigation," the National Police deputy chief noted.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 21:00 pm local time.

The explosion in Jalan Harimau at the back of the Maricaya market resulted in a number of homes, vehicles and shops being damaged.

The explosion resulted in partial loss of electricity in Makassar.(*)
