Chief spokesman of the state company Edi Priyanto said here on Friday, Pelindo II would be ready to facilitate police in seeking to get to the root of the problem that make dwelling time too long at the countrys second largest seaport.
"If that it for our mutual good, we will help and we work together to find the problem and make a solution," Edi told reporters.
Edi said he already received a telephone call from the East Java Police and the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) about the same problem.
Pelindo III would be ready to provide data about the dwelling time at the port, he added.
"Pelindo III would be all the more pleased if there is a special police team planning to operate at the port to get to the root of the problem," he said.
Earlier Edi said Pelindo III already facilitated the setting up of command posts for 100 police officers from the Tanjung Perak police administrative unit.
From the command posts police could watch over the process of loading and unloading at the port everyday, he said.
Tanjung Perak police chief Adj. Sr. Com. Takdir Mattanette said he had placed 100 police officers including detectives and intelligence officers ready every day at the command post.
Takdir said he hoped in one month police could clean the ports from illegal levies, Mafia practice that the process of loading and unloading could be smoother and faster.
"This measure is in line with the directive given by President Joko Widodo who has passed order to eliminate causes of long dwelling time at the port," he said.(*)
