"After coordinating with the Bali police, our personnel arrested the individual while he was picking up the packages in the Renon Post Office," said Head of Denpasar customs Syarif Hidayat in Denpasar, Monday.
He explained that both contraband packages were sent on different dates.
On Monday Aug 29, 100.2 grams of meth, packaged in a purple candle glass jar was sent from the Netherlands with the registration number CC-043386578NL.
Upon a narcotic test, it was revealed that the package contained illegal drugs.
The same post office in Renon also received a similar package from the Netherlands bearing the registration number CC-043386555NL containing a similar glass-jarred candle.
After an assessment on the package, the authorities found 30.3 grams of cocaine inside the candle.
Both packages were addressed to RK who resides in Danau Buyan street number 74, Sanur, Denpasar on Saturday.
Director of the Bali Police Drug Unit Franky Haryanto said that at the moment, the suspect is acting as a courier responsible to pick up the packages.
During the bust, the police discovered a letter of authority signed by RK, which will allow him to obtain the package, along with a copy of RKs passport carried by the Singaporean.
RK is suspected to be the sender and receiver of both contraband packages.
From the passport copy, it was revealed that RK is a 28 year-old British national.
The Bali police have included his name in the people search list.
"We are working alongside the Immigration offices to track him down and to determine whether he is currently in the country or not," he added.
The arrested suspect MFBN, he continued, is known have been working in Bali as a Disk Jockey (DJ) and an event organizer for the past four months.
"He admitted for only knowing RK for two to three months, which is why he was willing to pick up the packages for him even though he did not know what the contents were," the Director remarked.
For his involvement, MFBN will be charged with the laws on customs and narcotics.
He is looking at a minimum of five years behind bars and a maximum of 20 years imprisonment with an 8 billion rupiah fine.(*)
