"The direction and indications are there," Chairman of the Central Executive Board PDIP Hendrawan Supratikno said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Hendrawan Supratikno has said there are indications his party will support incumbent Basuki Thajaja Purnama (Ahok) in the regional head elections.
"The direction and indications are there," Hendrawan said here, Tuesday, in response to the press questions on the PDIPs support for Ahok.
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in a statement issued on Monday said the PDIP on Tuesday evening will announce its gubernatorial nominees in the 2017 elections to be simultaneously organized in several provinces next February.
The announcement will be made at the PDIP headquarters in Central Jakarta.
Hendrawan said his party, under the leadership of Megawati Sukarnoputri, does not only focus on the gubernatorial nominee in Jakarta but also in other regions.
"Tonight, the simultaneous aspect will be considered legally," he added. (*)
