Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - Floods hit Garut District, West Java Province, and killed at least three, a police officer said.

The three bodies were found in Maktal area, not far from Garut Public Hospital, Tarogong Kidul, Head of the Garut Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Arif Budiman said here, Tuesday.

Many families had reported that several members of their families were missing following flooding along Cimanuk River basin area.

"We will collect the data, but now we focus on evacuating residents affected by the floods," Budiman said.

Floodwaters reaching a height of up to an adults knee, submerged Dr Slamet Public Hospital, Tarogong Kidul Police Sector office, and residential areas.

Incessant heavy rains had caused Cimanuk River to overflow and triggered flooding in Garut on Tuesday evening.(*)
