"Why (everybody) likes to do it at the last minute," President Jokowi noted, in a discussion with tax amnesty applicants.
The Head of State was accompanied by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati during the visit.
Several applicants were queuing in the tax office during the Presidents visit.
"Please, pay first, administrative conditions could be met later," the minister said.
The government has asked applicants to to pay a two percent penalty in September, but if they pay after September, the penalty will be higher.
The tax amnesty program has been launched in an effort to increase tax revenues to help finance development programs.
In the meantime, the leaders of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) have also participated in the governments tax amnesty program, by declaring their wealth at the Tax Directorate General here on Tuesday.
"I appreciate the willingness of the Kadin leaders, and their decision to come to the tax office and take advantage of their right under the tax amnesty plan and declare their wealth," Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, who welcomed them, noted.
"I believe the Kadin leaders show of willingness to come here to declare their wealth was a good decision. They came to make their payments under the amnesty law," she added.
Further, Kadins chief, Rosan Roeslani, disclosed that most Kadin members who had visited the Tax Directorate submitted their wealth declarations and made their payments due under the amnesty scheme.
Among the Kadin leaders who came to the Tax Directorate office was Sandiaga Uno, who plans to run for Jakarta deputy governor.
