The number of participants of the Zumba dance reached nearly nine thousand people from the targeted participants of at least 13 thousand, according to the event organizer of the Zumba Tafisa Games 2016 Dina Carol here on Sunday.
"Our aim is indeed to break a record. But, I do not want to force anyone to join the Zumba because they are elderly participants who have also taken part in the World Walking Day earlier," Dina stated at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran.
Most participants of the Zumba dance participated in the World Walking Day from 06.00 a.m. local time on Sunday, while other participants came late so the number of people who joined the dance did not reach 13 thousand people.
Dina further said, she did not register the Zumba dance activities to the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) because the preparation of the activity only lasted one and a half months.
According to her, the organizing committee brought Zumba dance instructors from Brazil Jessica Esposito and from Spain Armando Calcedo in a bid to reach the target of the participants.
So far, the world record of the Zumba dance participants is still held by the Philippines with 12,975 people in July 2015.
