We`re ready to help PNG reopen flights to Jayapura or to any destinations in Indonesia."
Jayapura (ANTARA News) - Indonesian delegation chairman Klemen Tinal said the government was ready to assist Papua New Guinea (PNG) if its government seriously wanted to reopen flight routes to Papua.

"Were ready to help PNG reopen flights to Jayapura or to any destinations in Indonesia," Klemen Tinal, who also serves as Vice Governor of Papua, said on the sidelines of a meeting between Indonesian-PNG officials in Port Moresby on Monday.

A Papua New Guinean flight carrier, Air Niugini, was earlier serving flights to Jayapura via Port Moresby-Wewak-Vanimo before it was suspended.

Today, it is expected that the flights will be available again to serve the people of both countries.

Klemen said PNG citizens who wanted to visit Jayapura and other areas have to first stop in Vanimo and continue their trips by road to Jayapura.

Meanwhile, Head of Papuas Border and Foreign Cooperation Agency Suzana Wanggai, said PNG plans to open a flight route of Mount Hagen-Jayapura.
