Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Four people were hurt following an explosion believed to come from a bomb happened in front of the Oikumene church in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Sunday.

"The incident occurred at around 10.20 am Central Indonesia Time," head of public relations of the East Kalimantan regional police command, Senior Commissioner Fajar Setiawan, confirmed to Antara.

He said the explosion came from a bag believed to contain a molotov cocktail thrown by the perpetrator who has now been held at the Samarinda City Resort police headquarters.

"The perpetrator has been arrested and is now being held at the Samarinda city resort police command headquarters," he said.

Police personnel from a bomb diffusion team from the East Kalimantan regional command have come to the scene which is on Jalan Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo, to sterilize the location from any dangerous items and investigate to check the type of the bomb, Antara learned.

The four who were hurt in the incident are children and they have all been taken to a hospital.
