Commission III hopes that we all leave the case to the law."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chairman of the Commission III of the House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo said he hoped all parties would accept the polices decision naming Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) a suspect in blasphemy case.
"Commission III hopes that we all leave the case to the law," Bambang said here on Wednesday.
Ahok has been accused of insulting Islam and the Koran during a working visit to the Thousand island in the Jakarta bay earlier.
Bambang said with Ahok named a suspect and barred from leaving the country, there should be no rally related to Ahok case.
The police decision was made amid threat of a bigger rally on Nov. 25.
A big rally that ended in a clash between police and the protesters already took place in the city earlier this month led by the Islamic Defender Front that demanded the arrest of Ahok.
"Commission III appreciates police for having worked professionally, transparently and independently," Bambang said.
Ahok has repeatedly said he was not guilty but said he would accept whatever the police decision on the blasphemy allegation.
Another member of the Commission III Risa Mariska said she also appreciate the legal process taken on the Ahok case.
She said there was no reason to arrest Ahok as no evidence he could hide or destroy.
Ahok would be cooperative as from the beginning he had said he would accept any decision made on his case, the lawmaker of the ruling party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), said.
She said PDIP would continue its support for Ahok in his re-election bid with running mate Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
She said there should be no attempt to bar Ahok and Djarot from conducting pre election campaigns.
Ahok and Djarot have been barred from entering some areas in Jakarta by group of people believed to be on order from certain groups.
