"Let us just wait for the results of the investigation for 24 hours. The information is that the five suspects (caught in Jakarta and Bekasi) are members of one group but we do not yet know if they are connected with the group of Juhanda (in Samarinda)," head of public relations division of the Indonesia Police headquarters, Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar, said here on Friday.
He confirmed that the police arrested five suspected terrorists in Jakarta and surrounding areas on Friday.
"We arrested them today at 11 am from different locations in Bekasi (West Java), East and West Jakarta," he disclosed.
They were arrested following a long drawn investigation by the polices anti-terrorist squad, Densus 88, he added.
"According to information from Densus 88, investigation was still going on. The suspects have been identified by their initials as WW, S, AU, R and D," he pointed out.
The police have arrested five suspects in connection with the Molotov cocktail attack on Oikumene Church in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on November 13. That attack claimed the life of a two-and-a-half-year old girl, Intan Olivia Marbun, and left three other children wounded, all under the age of five.(*)
