"Up till now, there were no reports of any Indonesian having fallen victim to the earthquake. Some 100 Indonesians currently stay in Fukushima," the ministry stated via its official Twitter account.
The Indonesian government had expressed its concern over the earthquake.
Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi contacted the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo to ensure that all Indonesians staying in the prefecture were safe.
According to the embassy, a total of 28,449 Indonesians were currently in Japan.
The Japanese Meteorology Agency earlier informed that an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck the prefecture at 05.59 a.m. local time.
The earthquake was centered in the waters off Fukushima, bordering the Pacific Ocean, or located northeast of Tokyo. (*)
