Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will not intervene in the alleged case of blasphemy involving Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto has affirmed.

"President hopes the legal process in Ahoks blasphemy case can be conducted fairly," Wiranto said here on Friday.

The Attorney Generals Office officially received the dossiers related to Ahoks case, with Ahok named as the suspect, from the police on Thursday.

"The legal process will run in the court. We should be patient," Wiranto said.

Wiranto also lauded the mass prayer that was held safely and peacefully on Friday.

"Through good communication between the authorities and the participants, we could hold the mass prayer," the minister pointed out.

President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla performed Friday prayers along with millions of participants.

"Our brothers across the country held a mass prayer for the unity of the nation," he said.

Jokowis tent was heavily guarded by the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) while he performed the prayers at the National Monument complex in Central Jakarta.

The president and the vice presidents tents were being guarded by security staff, involving Paspampres and the national police force, based on Antaras observations.

Meanwhile, other participants of the peaceful rally, with a mass prayer as the main agenda, were seen holding the prayers along the Thamrin protocol road despite slight rain in the area.

"We see this as a blessing, the rain is a blessing," one of the participants, Suprianto, said a moment before the prayers.

Other participants performed their prayers outside of the City Hall complex in Medan Merdeka Selatan road.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Police Chief General Tito Karnavian has called on mass prayers participants to support the legal process against Ahok for alleged religious blasphemy.

"I need your support," Tito said before thousands of mass prayer participants at the Monas Square here on Friday.(*)
