"Three people have been held while the case of eight others is being processed. They have all been named suspects," Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul said.
Jakarta ( ANTARA News) - Police are still investigating the mastermind behind alleged plot to commit treason, hatched by 11 suspects arrested recently.

"Investigation into the case involving 11 suspects was still continuing. We will continue to investigate to find out the mastermind behind the plot, the financier, the field operator and the mobilizer. All of this must be brought out. The police will continue investigating," Indonesia Police Headquarters head of public information department, Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul, said here on Monday.

He stated that the 11 people have been named suspects as they made efforts to spread hatred by exploiting religious, ethnic and tribal issues and inter-group differences, often referred to by their acronym as "sara" issues.

"Three people have been held while the case of eight others is being processed. They have all been named suspects," he informed.

He pointed out that the police would not made public the evidence in the alleged treason plot.

"It is the essence of investigation. We will not make the details public. We have a certain strategy with regard to the investigation. Not all processes involved in the investigation have to be made known to the public. It is normal and is part of the investigation strategy," he reiterated.

Police arrested the 11 people early on Friday morning for allegedly plotting to commit treason.

Eight of them, including musician Ahmad Dhani, former army general Kivlan Zein, former army general Adityawarman, activist Ratna Sarumpaet, activists Firza Husein, Eko, Alvia and Rachmawati Soekarnoputri who is also the sister of former president Megawati Soekarnoputri have been named suspects but the police did not detain them.

They only underwent questioning for 24 hours after being arrested.

Three others, namely, activists Sri Bintang Pamungkas, Jamran and Rizal, however, have been detained for allegedly violating Article 107 of the information technology law.(*)
