Kalla also took the opportunity to laud the growing cooperation between the two countries.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to express my happiness over the cooperation that has gone well between the two countries so far, which, I believe, would continue to further grow in the future," he said.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla was accompanied by his wife Mme Mufidah Jusuf Kalla.
Bambang Brodjonegoro, minister for national development planning, Sri Adiningsih, the chief of the presidents advisory board, were also seen at the reception.
The event included traditional Japanese music performances such as "taiko" (drum) and "shamisen" (guitar) as well as an exhibition of tourist hotspots in Japan.(*)
