"MPR RI is still studying comments from various elements of the country," MPR Deputy Chairman Mahyudin said on the sidelines of activities to familiarize the public with the assemblys four pillars here on Saturday.
Most of the comments suggest that the nation revive a broad outline of state policy (GBHN) to ensure that the direction of national development will become more focused and well-guided, he said.
He noted that GBHN was replaced with a medium-term national development plan (RPJMN) and government work plan (RKP), after the reform movement was launched.
As RPJMN is based on the presidents vision and mission, any change in regime would also lead to a change in government policy, he said.
Some of the comments have proposed that the nation should return to the original 1945 Constitution, he said.
"It is not easy to return to the original 1945 Constitution. Thus, MPR is very cautious about it (the proposal)," he said.
Any proposal for an amendment to the constitution must pass through a mechanism at MPR and must be studied first, he said.(*)
