"What we discussed included e-commerce. To protect e-commerce, China has much experience. So, there is nothing wrong if we cooperate intensively in the cyber sector," Wiranto said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and China discussed cooperation on issues agreed upon earlier during a Thursday meeting, including in the cyber field.

In the discussions, Indonesia was represented by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, while Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng represented China.

"We discussed efforts to continue what we earlier agreed upon. There are many agreements which have been reached, particularly in the political, legal and security fields," Minister Wiranto said, after meeting with the Chinese ambassador at Wirantos office in Jakarta on Thursday.

He mentioned, among others, discussions about the agreement on cyber cooperation.

They also reviewed issues which Indonesia and China are developing within the framework of bilateral cooperation, both at the level of the heads of government or ministerial level.

Wiranto said Indonesia cooperated with China in the cyber field because of China's advanced technology.

Indonesia is working to establish a new organization which involves a variety of cyber activities in Indonesia.

"What we discussed included e-commerce. To protect e-commerce, China has much experience. So, there is nothing wrong if we cooperate intensively in the cyber sector," Wiranto asserted.

Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xie Feng said Indonesia and China are two friendly countries which have close relations, which is why the two sides seek more bilateral cooperation.

"We are good friends. And I think we will continue to be good partners in various fields. China and Indonesia face the same challenges in the cyber world, such as cyber-attacks, trans-boundary crimes, terrorism and others," Xie Fang said.

As large and developing countries, according to Xie Feng, the two nations could share experience in establishing cooperation and exploring various forms of establishing cooperation.

"I am very happy that Indonesia also supports bilateral cooperation. So, I thinks there is a good prospect for China and Indonesia to cooperate in the cyber field," the ambassador said.(*)
