"Do not create any kinds of disruption, even small ones, during the cooling-off period," Jokowi said.
Ambon, Maluku (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called against any kinds of disruption, even small ones, during the cooling-off period ahead of the regional elections on Feb 15.

"Do not create any kinds of disruption, even small ones, during the cooling-off period," he said to newsmen on the sidelines of his visit to City Mall here on Wednesday.

Jokowi is in Ambon on a working visit to mark the commemoration of the National Press Day.

The president stated that the cooling-off period must be understood by all parties as a period of restraint.

"Well, as it is called a cooling-off period, everybody must be calm and not allow any disruption, even small ones, to happen. During the peace day, everything must be peaceful," he added.

In spite of planned activities to be held, which are claimed to be unrelated to elections affairs, during the period, Jokowi said that peace must be preserved during the period.

"Whatever it is, the cooling-off period must be preserved as it is," he remarked.

The campaign period is scheduled to end on Feb 11, followed by the cooling-off period from Feb 12 to 14 ahead of the vote on Feb 15.

A total of 101 regions and seven provinces, including Jakarta, will hold the regional elections to elect district heads or provincial governors.(*)
