"We are preparing legal assistance to Siti along with the embassy," Head of Polri`s Public Relations Division Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia are preparing legal assistance for Siti Aisyah, an Indonesian woman suspected of murdering North Korean leader Kim Jong-uns half-brother Kim Jong-nam in Malaysia.
"We are preparing legal assistance to Siti along with the embassy," Head of Polris Public Relations Division Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said in Indonesian Police Headquarters in Jakarta city on Wednesday.
Until now, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not obtained permission from Malaysian authorities to meet Aisyah.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Saturday (Feb 18) has communicated with her Malaysian counterpart to reaffirm Indonesian governments request to obtain consular access to Aisyah, who is currently in temporary detention in Malaysia.
On Friday (Feb 17), Aisyah along with another suspect, Doan Thi Huong, had conducted a crime scene reconstruction at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Aisyah carrying an Indonesian passport and was arrested at the airport on Thursday (Feb 16) at 2 a.m. local time.
Jong-nam, a 45-year-old man, was allegedly killed by two women, who splashed some chemical liquid on his face, at the departure terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on Monday (Feb 13) at around 9 a.m. local time before leaving for Macau.(*)
