Bandung (ANTARA News) - A bomb exploded at the Pandawa Park area of Bandung on Monday. The attacker was shot and died on his way to the hospital, the police said.

"(The suspect) was in critical condition when he was rushed to the hospital, but he died on his way to the hospital," West Java police spokesman Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus said.

The attacker exploded a low-explosive pressure cooker bomb at Pandawa Park.

He then ran and hid inside a government office near the location and set fire to the second floor of the building.

A witness stated that after the loud explosion, he saw a man running towards Arjuna village office carrying a knife.

West Java police chief Inspector General Anton Charliyan reported that there were no injuries from the explosion, which occurred around 08.15 a.m.

"There was no injuries from the explosion and (the attack) in the office. When the suspect entered the office, all the employees ran out," he remarked.

Anton noted that the police were investigating the identity of the suspect and his motives.
