I want to ensure that all preparations are made properly."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wants the preparations for the Asian Games 2018 to be finalized by supervising details of the preparations properly.
"I want to ensure that all preparations are made properly," the president said, at a limited cabinet meeting to discuss preparations for the Asian Games 2018 at the Presidential Office here, on Thursday.
There must be a monthly meeting to monitor every detail of preparations for the event, he said at the meeting also attended by Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla.
"(The preparations) must be monitored to evaluate the progress in the construction of infrastructures. We must keep abreast of it to see whether it is behind schedule or on time," he stated.
He noted that Indonesia will host the Asian Games and the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in 2018.
The Asian Games will bring together some 33 thousand athletes from Asian countries, while the annual meeting of IMF and the World Bank will be attended by 15 thousand guests from all over the world, he remarked.
"If preparations are not made in detail and controlled every month, I fear that we will have less time to complete preparations for both the events," he underlined.
The president noted that he has delegated the chairmanship of the Asian Games Preparatory Team to Kalla.
"The Asian Games will be chaired by the vice president. Yesterday, I decided to delegate it to him, but I have not informed him about it," he concluded.
