"We will provide Rp12 billion for the construction of new buildings and procurement of health equipment," Country Director of Qatar Charity, Qaram, said after a meeting with the hospital management and Board of Dompet Dhuafa (Aid for the Poor) Foundation B in Bogor, Thursday.
Qaram said the organization strongly supports the development of Dompet Dhuafa Hospital, and he is satisfied with the quality of health care and facilities provided at the hospital, which has been operating since 2012.
"I see all the things are carried out in a professional manner, both in health care and hospital administration," he said, hoping that such assistance will strengthen the relationship between the people of Indonesia and Qatar.
Meanwhile, President Director of Rumah Sehat Dompet Dhuafa Hospital, Imam Rulyawan, explained the financial aid from Qatar Charity will be used to construct new buildings and buy healthcare facilities, such as for neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), maternal care and nursing training center.
He explained the hospital which stands on an area of 7,800 square meters is the first hospital in Indonesia that was established using Islamic alms or zakat, and waqf (endowments) from the people, and provided free health services for the poor.
Dompet Dhuafa is a non-governmental organization which engaged in social and humanitarian missions, such as education, health and economic businesses.
"Every month we serve about 500 patients and we expect the number of patients can increase from time to time," Imam said, adding that the hospital also serves general patients and those who use health insurance (BPJS).
Dompet Dhuafa hospital serves 24-hour emergency care, oral surgery, general surgery, dental care, hemodialysis clinics for nutrition, mental health, lung, internal diseases, neurological, and maternal care.(*)
