The nine agreements include two agreements signed in the presence of Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Pence.
The two agreements signed before the two countries vice presidents were regarding liquefied natural gas supply of one million ton per year from ExxonMobil to state-owned PT Pertamina for 20 years starting from 2025 and cooperation between Pacific Infra Capital, PT Infra Cerdas Indonesia and PT PLN for installation of smart metering in the Java-Bali electricity network.
The seven other agreements signed before Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, include cooperation between state-owned electricity company PT PLN and Power Phase for the installation of turbo phase booster system at PLTG (steam powered power plants).
The technology could reduce fuel consumption, emission and boost electricity output.
The other is concerning cooperation between PLN and Applied Materials Inc. for the installation of fault current limiter to reduce fault current levels in the West Java electricity network.
Applied Materials will be conducting a feasibility study on the application of the technology on 500kV main station.
The third is regarding cooperation between PLN and Halliburton for the development of geothermal power plant in Tulehu, Ambon, and long-term strategy for the development of geothermal energy.
The fourth is about cooperation between PTJababeka Infrastructure and General Resources for the development of waste-to-resource facility in the Jababeka Industrial Zone to be called JababECO.
The fifth agreement is on cooperation between the Indonesian Air Force and Zlockheed Martin for sniper advanced targeting pods (ATP), while the sixth is for cooperation between PT Dirgantara Zindonesia and Honeywell for the supply of 34 turboprop engines TPE331.
The last agreement signed was regarding cooperation between Samarinda regional administration and NextGen for low carbon waste-to-electricity.
During the signing of the agreements, it was also announced that the agreement that had been signed before on cooperation between PLN and General Electric was regarding the most efficient turbine supply to reduce price and carbon emission.
GE and its partners have supported the operation of 600MW power plants under the 35,000MW power development project and would supply additional 2,650 power plants.
Announcement had also been made regarding the cooperation between PLN and Ormat Technologies for the conclusion of 3x110 MW PLTP (geothermal plant) Sarulla with an investment of around US$1.7 billion.
Of the total investment, US$260 million would come from Ormat.
PLTP Sarulla Unit I has been operating commercially since March 2016, and it will be the biggest in the world and most efficient in Indonesia.
The goal of the visit of Pence was to strengthen the economic relations between the two countries and increase cooperation in global security and relations, as well as exchange between communities.(*)
