The figure is expected to increase to Rp7,200 trillion this year.Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno held a coordination meeting with 118 president directors of state-owned companies here on Saturday to discuss optimum use of their assets.
"All president directors of state-owned companies were present to discuss a wide range of issues related to the assets of state-owned companies," State Enterprises Ministrys Deputy for Mining Business, Strategic Industries, and Media Fajar Harry Sampurno stated here on Saturday evening.
The minister held the coordination meeting as part of her working visits to Yogyakarta and Central Java. During the visit, she also attended the joint commemoration of 28 state-owned companies anniversary which falls between Feb and April.
According to official data, the total assets of all state-owned companies stood at Rp6,300 trillion last year. The figure is expected to increase to Rp7,200 trillion this year.
"The state-owned companies have assets in large numbers stretching from Sabang to Merauke. Some of them are abandoned, problematic, and in dispute," he added.
Therefore, the meeting tried to identify the status of the assets in order to use them for the greatest benefit of the companies interests, he noted.
"The assets can be optimally used by the state-owned companies themselves and in cooperation with the private sector," he asserted.
It was reported earlier that the State Enterprises Ministry, along with the Agrarian and Spatial Layout Ministry/National Land Agency (BPN), the Public Works and Housing Ministry, the Transportation Ministry, the National Police, and the Attorney Generals Office will safeguard the state-owned companies assets as part of the efforts to expedite infrastructure development.
