Jakarta, April 28 (Antara) - The Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Yayan G.H. Mulyana, met with the Vice Rector of Wollongong University, Prof. Alex Frino, on Friday to discuss inter-university cooperation.

A statement from the Consul of Information, Social and Cultural Affairs of the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney, H. Dimara, received by Antara here on Friday, said that during a working visit to Wollongong, the Consul General met with the Vice Rector of Wollongong University, who was accompanied by the Director of International Cooperation, Peter Day.

Consul General Yayan expressed his appreciation during the meeting for Wollongong University academicians and administration for their support for Indonesian students, who are studying at the university.

In addition, Consul General Mulyana also underlined the importance of inter-university cooperation.

"I consider inter-city collaboration, especially in Indonesias priority areas and for Wollongong Universitys main subjects, such as maritime policy, need to be improved," the Consul General said.

He further emphasized the important contribution of inter-university cooperation, not only in improving the quality of human resources, but also strengthening people-to-people contacts and cultural interactions between Indonesians and Australians.

Meanwhile, at the meeting, Prof. Alex provided updated information to the Consul General on the progress of Indonesian students at Wollongong University.

He also explained the universitys key areas of study, including maritime policy, commerce and engineering.

Wollongong University is one of the few higher education institutions in the world, which offers a postgraduate degree in the field of maritime policy. That subject is highly relevant for the Indonesian governments priority development programs. ***4***
