Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government continues to improve infrastructure and the quality of human resources to encourage equitable development across Indonesia, according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

"We continue to boost equitable development by channeling state spending for improving infrastructure and the quality of human resources," the finance minister remarked while acting as the inspector of the National Awakening Day ceremony here on Monday.

Indrawati highlighted that infrastructure development is strategic to support connectivity while improving the quality of human resources is crucial for honing the skills of employees in the era of competition.

To achieve these two goals, Indrawati ensured that the State Budget will be used to encourage equitable development across the region and in the border areas in order to achieve a fair, prosperous, and just Indonesia.

"Tax reforms can boost revenue and can also improve distribution. The Ministry of Finance may use fiscal instruments to realize the ideals of a just and prosperous Indonesia," she remarked.

Speaking in connection with the momentum of National Awakening Day, Indrawati expects the employees of the Ministry of Finance to help transform the youth to become more professional and competent and to have integrity and commitment to realize equitable development.(*)
