Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Police have called on its personnel to improve alertness following a series of terror attacks that targeted police personnel recently, a Jakarta police spokesman said.

"Firstly (anticipation), stay alert while carrying out your duties, because we have been the target of terror," Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono stated here on Tuesday.

He called on patrolling officers to avoid travelling alone and stay close to other officers.

The police have also deployed its Sabhara unit as well as mobile brigade unit (Brimob) to secure the police headquarters and posts.

It has also monitored activities in social media that spread hatred and threat against the police and other security personnel, Argo remarked.

Earlier on May, a suicide bomb attack in East Jakarta killed civilians and police personnel.

Last week, an unknown man attacked two police personnel with bayonet after late night (Isya) prayer at the Falatehan Mosque in Blok M area, South Jakarta.

Early on Tuesday, a motorbike rider tried to attach ISIS attribute and a threat to the Indonesian police and military in front of South Jakarta police precinct.(*)
