The first point conveyed by the president before the leaders from the worlds top economies gathered for the summit was Indonesias effort to improve supervision of the flow of funds to the radical groups and terrorist networks.
"The second is that with the capabilities of information technology, the G20 should become a driving force in counter-narrative deployment with an emphasis on moderation movement and the spread of peaceful and tolerant values," Head of the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Bureau Bey Machmudin quoted the president as saying, Friday.
On the occasion, Jokowi also called upon the G20 countries to be a driving force to find solutions to the root cause of terrorism, arising from inequality and injustice, by strengthening the inclusive economic empowerment.
The fourth case was a call to the G20 countries to develop cooperation in the field of intelligence exchange, the handling of foreign terrorist fighters or FTF and the development of capacity building.
President Jokowi also revealed Indonesias efforts to deal with terrorism through a deradicalization program, with the result that only three out of the 560 former terrorist actors, or 0.53 percent, wished to indulge in terrorism.
Additionally, two of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, also play an important role in spreading peace and tolerant Islamic teachings.
Machmudin noted that the President also appreciated the G20 countries support for Indonesias membership process in the Financial Action Task Force.
The President also conveyed to the leaders of G20 member states that Indonesia was a plural country and the third largest democracy in the world.
Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
With its unique and strategic position, the President said Indonesia was committed to being part of the global effort to combat terrorism, as well as spreading peace and tolerance.(*)
