Gorontalo (ANTARA News) - An earthquake, measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, rocked Gorontalo at 7.12 p.m. on Saturday, the Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at 122.05 degrees eastern longitude and 0.41 degrees northern latitude at a depth of 100 kilometers. It was about 40 kilometers northwest of Boalemo District, Gorontalo Province, but had no potential to trigger a tsunami.

The tremors were felt in all parts of Gorontalo and caused panic among residents who rushed out of their homes.

The BMKG was still waiting for a report on possible damage until this story was filed.(*)
