The EPT-2 program is part of global efforts to combat emerging and or re-emerging high impact infectious diseases, which threaten the global community.
"We are evaluating the infectious disease issues whether emerging or not in EPT-2," the deputy of coordination for health improvement at the Coordinating Ministy for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), Sigit Priohutomo, remarked here on Wednesday.
He said that in the EPT-2, Indonesia-United States worked through the Kemenko PMK and US International Development Agency (USAID). The Partnership also involves many bodies from international organizations including the United Nations.
On Wednesday, he said, the partnership through EPT-2 discusses priorities and activities for the period 2017-September 2018. It also reviews the focus of the strategy and activities to be achieved on September 30, 2019 or at the end of the EPT-2 program.
EPT-2 itself was launched in January 2015. Periodically the program is evaluated and reinforced according to the dynamics of current health issues.
According to him, EPT-2 helps Indonesia increase the monitoring of viruses that could potentially become a global pandemic or epidemic.(*)
