"Our engine of diplomacy is moving to exploit non-traditional markets in Africa, Middle East and Asia," Jokowi said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said here on Wednesday Indonesia is expanding economic diplomacy to exploit non-traditional markets in Africa, Middle East and Asia.

"Our engine of diplomacy is moving to exploit non-traditional markets in Africa, Middle East and Asia," Jokowi said in a state of the nation address in a plenary session of the Parliament to mark the 72nd anniversary of the countrys independence on August 17 on Thursday.

The president cited over the past year, state-owned rolling stock manufacturing company PT Industri Kerera Api (Inka) has succeeded in exporting 150 train cars to Bangladesh, and aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia exported CN 235 aircraft to Senegal and Thailand.

He said amid the rapid and extreme waves of globalization the countrys ability to stand alone is an important pillar to sustain the struggle to improve the welfare of the people and create social justice.

The government has continued to work hard to achieve food security by increasing production of strategic food crops mainly rice, corn, beef, chili and red onion, he said.

The government also continues to strengthen self reliance of the nation through innovation of technology and development of renewable energy driven power plants, and pushing for an increase in local content for power generating plants, he said.
