London (ANTARA News) - Indonesian woman chess player Dewi Ardhiani Anastasia Citra secured a Woman Grand Master title after beating Grand Master from FIDE (World Chess Federation) Popchev Milko in an international chess tournament in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The "IM Round-robin Third Saturday 54" tournament that lasted from November 12 to 18 was attended by ten athletes from six countries including from FIDE, acting officer for protocol and consular affairs of the Indonesian embassy in Beograd, Mutiara Angun, who attended the event said.

Hababi Soewedo, the embassy`s information, social and cultural affairs official, told ANTARA on Sunday that a "GM Round-robin Memorial Milje Vujovica" tournament had been held during the event, particioated in by ten athletes from seven countries including Indonesia represented by Sean Winshand Cuhendi.

Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro Harry R.J. Kandau said the achievement proved that Indonesia has big potential in sports and hoped it would boost the spirit and optimism of all parties to support Indonesian athletes.

Grandmaster (GM) is the highest title from Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE) given to a chess player who can achieve it. This is the highest title a chess player can achieve and it is a lifetime title. (*)
