Lombok, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has called on students from Islamic boarding schools in East Lombok District of West Nusa Tenggara Province to maintain unity.

"We should avoid hostility when something unclear arises. We want all Indonesian people to stand united as brothers of one nationality," Widodo noted during his visit to two islamic schools in Lombok, Thursday.

Widodo delivered a speech at two Islamic boarding schools: Syaikh Zainuddin Nahdlatul Wathan Anjani led by Sitti Raihanun Zainuddin and Darunahdlatin Nahdlatul Wathon Pancor led by Sitti Rauhun.

The two Islamic boarding schools have a history of conflict.

Widodo urged all students to maintain Islamic relationships and brotherhood.

The president said all Indonesians should uphold unity to develop the country.

The Nahdlatul Wathan is the biggest Islamic mass organization in Lombok Island of West Nusa Tenggara.

The organization was initiated by Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Majid.
