The 17th session of the ASEAN Telecommunication and Information Ministers Meeting was opened by the Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, while the session was led by the Cambodian Post and Telecommunication Minister Tram IV Tek.
The session of the ASEAN Telecommunication and Information Ministers Meeting took place from Nov.28 to Dec.1, 2017.
In the meantime, Rudiantara was appointed as deputy chairman of Minister Tram IV Tek during the session, according to a press statement received from the Communications and Informatics Ministry on Thursday.
The 17th session of the ASEAN Telecommunication and Information Ministers Meeting was held as the implementation of the AIM (Asean ICT Master plan) 2020, themed "ICT Connectedness and Readiness: Towards a digitally Integrated Community".
The 17th session will discuss the agenda of Siem Reap Declaration, the projects proposed for the "work cycle 2018", and talks on the financial status of the ASEAN ICT Fund (AICTF).
At the session, Minister Rudiantara provided insights
to colleagues of ASEAN ministers on the importance of application service delivery strategies.
As the largest social media market in the world, ASEAN doesn`t yet have a policy on the harmonious regulation in the face of issues related to OTT (Over The Top) services, such as negative content, user protection, and taxation issues.
In this regard, Indonesia proposes and calls on Asean member countries to establish a joint force to formulate a common strategy to address such issues, Rudiantara pointed out.
Meanwhile, Rudiantara during his stay in Cambodia will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with several partners in the ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries such as Japan and the United States.
