Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Participants of the Asian Games 2018 will not be charged to use motor boats for sightseeing around the Musi River in Palembang City during the implementation of the international event next year.

Head of the Culture and Tourism Affairs Office of South Sumatra Irene Camelyn Sinaga gave the statement here on Monday, adding that her office will facilitate the Asian Games participants to avail free motor boat rides.

The 18th Asian Games, to be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra Province, will be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

Some 9,500 athletes, 2,500 personnel of the Asian Olympic Council, and 5,500 technical delegates from 45 countries will participate in the event.

According to Sinaga, her side will guide the participants keen on exploring the Ampera Bridge at Musi River by using traditional means of river transportation.

The South Sumatra provincial administration has readied 11 places of interest, including the Musi River, for the Asian Games participants to visit.
