Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Three Bulgarian nationals here on Tuesday attended a trial at Mataram city court as suspects for skimming the automated teller machine (ATM) at Gili Trawangan tourism spot in North Lombok district.

Didiek Jatmiko, the court`s spokesperson, has confirmed that the trial, registered under No.812/Pid.Sus/2017/PN Mtr, would start next Thursday (Jan 4).

"The trial will be opened by me, as the head judge, and two judges, as members, on Thursday," Jatmiko remarked.

During the upcoming trial, the other two judges who will accompany Jatmiko are AA Putu Ngurah Rajendra and Kurnia Mustikawati.

The Bulgarian nationals, named Vladimir Hristovorov Veleb, Stancho Mihaylov Stanev, and Mitko Venelinov, will hear charges filed by two prosecutors, Ema Muliawati and Sayekti Rahayu.

The three Bulgarian nationals were charged by the article 46 No.1 and Article 47, the Law No.19 Year 2016 on Information and Electronic Transaction (ITE) Juncto Article 55 No.1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Following the probe by special task force of North Lombok Police and the state-owned bank BRI, the three suspects had been captured when they were skimming an ATM machine near the Ombak Villa, Gili Trawangan Island.

During the raid, the police have seized the skimming equipment, the ATM card printing machine, and some fake ATM cards, which may have been used to steal money from other ATM users.

According to the further probe, police found that the three suspects had installed the skimming machine to some ATMs in Mataram city and West Lombok district.

The police also found that these suspects were part of the large syndicate of ATM skimmer in 2016. The group reportedly had cost losses worth Rp3 billion.
