The two foreign ministers will discuss Indonesia-India strategic partnership during a joint commission meeting scheduled for Friday, spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Arrmanatha Nasir, stated here on Thursday.
The meeting will focus on discussing political, security, social, and cultural issues related to the strategic partnership, director of the Central and South Asian Regions at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Ferdy Piay, noted.
The two ministers will also discuss a wide range of regional issues of mutual concern.
According to Piay, Indonesia has strong relations with India in terms of defense cooperation. The governments of the two countries have intensively discussed the Indonesian defense minister`s planned visit to India to attend a defense dialog.
The governments of the two countries will also jointly implement a deredicalization program to thwart terrorism.
India is also one of Indonesia`s main trade partners.
Trade between the two countries in the first 10 months of 2017 reached US$14.846 billion, up 43.31 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. )
