"Research will be meaningful if it is utilized to make products. Do not put research results on a paper to get a master`s degree but use them to produce products," Kalla noted while signing a development agreement on Science and Techno Park of Bumi Serpong Damai City in Jakarta on Monday.
Innovation can be the key to changing human existence through technological developments. Support from qualified researchers is crucial to promoting change in life.
Kalla cited the innovations by younger researchers in Silicon Valley in California, the United States. Silicon Valley could develop, as it utilized the skills of younger researchers and carried out innovations to fulfill the needs of the market. It could serve as an example to develop innovation in Indonesia.
"They combine the innovation of younger people and researchers in Stanford as well as develop entrepreneurship between universities, businessmen, and research centers," he noted.
To help Indonesian researchers create flagship products, the government is cooperating with the Paramadina University and Sinarmas Land to develop the park.
Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Muhammad Nasir stated that development of the park is one of the efforts to achieve the government`s target of setting up the National Science and Technology Park in the Center for Science and Technology in Serpong.
"Hence, we are setting up a laboratory to showcase research products. Sinarmas has provided a place where a start-up company will be developed," he added.
