"There are no overlaps. In the Presidential regulations, there are clauses, in which it is stated that the Agency`s function includes indentifying, mitigating, handling and recovering cyber attacks," he stated in the Ministry`s building in Jakarta, Thursday.
The Agency`s focus, he continued, is cyber defense from possible threats and attacks in all levels, including state, corporation business and individuals.
Meanwhile, circulations of hoax or false information, as well as the blocking of incoming problematic contents are being handled by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
In relation to the National Cyber and Code Agency`s transition, he stated that at the moment, their priority is to transfer the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure (ID SIRTII) from the Ministry to the Agency.
Cyber attacks, especially malwares, that are being handled by ID SIRTII could happen everyday, which is why its operations should not be halted.
"ID SIRTII should not pause its operations, as everyday, there are millions of cyber attacks, especially those involving malware. Their function is vital in protecting the Indonesian public," he stated.
Rudiantara further explained that based in the Presidential Regulations number 53 of 2017 on the National Cyber and Code Agency, it has one year to carry out its transisiton from the National Code Agency and the Directorate of Information Security from the Directorate General of Informatics Application from the Ministry.
The Agency itself is directly under the President`s administration and is responsible to report its operations to the State leader, after previously operating under the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
