Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has offered his deepest condolences to the dead and missing victims of the landslides in Brebes District, Central Java.

Widodo expressed his grief on his Twitter account @jokowi, which was received here on Thursday.

"Please accept my condolences for the landslide victims in Brebes. I have instructed related agencies to evacuate them soon. May the families of the victims be steadfast. `Al Faatihah` -Jkw," he tweeted.

Widodo tweeted his statement at 5.37 p.m. Western Indonesia Standard time (WIB). He received around 800 different responses and 1,700 likes for his tweet.

Some accounts, such as @RumraMoh, responded to Widodo`s tweet by saying "Amien, thank you for your attention, especially for the victims in Brebes."

According to National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), five farmers were killed in Pasir Panjang Village, Salem Sub-district, Brebes District in Central Java.

Earlier, Head of Data Information and Public Relations of BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, remarked that the landslides occurred around 2.30 p.m., killing five people, identified as Karsini, Sapto, Wati, Radam, and Kiswan.

Besides, there were 15 people who went missing and another 14 who sustained injuries because of this disaster. The rescuers have continued to evacuate the victims until now.
