Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Trade will implement strict import rules through border and post border inspection schemes due to some business players still attempting to flout rules without receiving approval from one of the authorized ministries.

Director General of the Ministry`s Foreign Trade Oke Nurwan noted here on Thursday that the border and post border inspection schemes were established by the government to sort commodities and conduct inspection to facilitate the process of distributing the products from the harbor to the country`s markets.

Border inspection is conducted by the customs officers for checking customs documents, while the commodities will be checked by the relevant ministries and agencies during post border inspection.

In fact, several business players have been found to violate the rules, so there is a need to take firm action.

"The government will strictly enforce the existing rules. We are still investigating the violations conducted by some business players, as the new rules have been implemented since February 2018," he remarked during the opening of an event to raise awareness and offer coaching on simplification and shift in inspection of imports from border to post border areas in Surabaya, East Java Province.

He noted that enactment of the regulation aimed to create a conducive business climate, especially for the raw material industry.

"We urged business players to comply with the rules, and if there is a violation, of course, sanctions will be imposed," he remarked.

He stated that enactment of the rules aimed to simplify the earlier rules.

Meanwhile, based on the enactment of rules on February 1, 2018, some import commodity licenses had been divided into 3,642 units for post border inspection and 809 units for border inspection.
