Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita stated that of the total potential transactions, coffee had recorded the highest value, as it is the most interesting product of the country.
"Based on the latest data I received, the total transactions amounted to $9.7 million, of which coffee constituted $6 million. This is a good start," Enggartiasto informed ANTARA on Tuesday.
Some potential transactions of arabica and robusta coffee products were recorded at $2.66 million; other varieties of coffee, $3.3 million; coffee and margarine, $60 thousand; fruit picking, $2.2 million; and paper machinery repairs, $192 thousand.
During the 2012-2016 period, Indonesia`s non-oil and non-gas exports to New Zealand decreased by 1.62 percent, from $366 million in 2012 to $357.5 million in 2016.
However, exports in 2017 grew by 15.32 percent over the previous year and pulled up the export value to $412.4 million in 2017. The top five Indonesian export products to New Zealand comprised palm nuts or kernel oilcakes, wood for furniture, coal, and facial tissues.
The government expects the total value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and New Zealand to reach Rp40 billion, or $2.9 billion, by 2024.
