Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s religious harmony index scored 72.27 last year, the result of a national survey conducted by the Religious Affairs Ministry shows.

"We thank God that the result of the survey remains good, scoring above 70," Chief of the Research and Development and Education and Training Board at the Religious Affairs Ministry, Abdurrahman Mas`ud said here on Thursday.

Abdurrahman said the survey was not the only one conducted in Indonesia. There are many other researches conducted with various results.

But like other researchers, the team of researchers from the ministry is ready to take responsibility for the result of the survey academically, he said.

"We do not mean that the survey is the best among the existing surveys," he said.

The national survey on religious harmony 2017 was conducted in 31 out of the country`s 33 provinces from December 7 to 20, he said.

The survey was conducted on 7,140 respondents who were aged above 17 years or got married, by means of multistage clustered random sampling method with a margin of error of 1.046 percent and a trust level of 99.6 percent.

The religious harmony index which scores 72.27 reflects the religious harmony in Indonesia is good.

The index measures the level of tolerance (with 70.91), equality (with 72.38) and inter-religious cooperation (with 73.51).
