London (ANTARA News) - Senegal, which has purchased Indonesian made aircraft and rolling stock, plans to buy a tanker and cargo ship from the country.

That African country also wants to buy two units of 50-meter patrol boat to watch over its 700 kilometer coast line, the Indonesian embassy in Doha quoted Senegalese Minister for the Expansion of National Railway Networks Abdou Ndene Sall as saying.

Abdou Ndene Sall visited the state-owned shipbuilding company PT. PAL in Surabaya and the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Bali last week.

Indonesian embassy spokesman Dimas Prihadi in Doha quoted PT PAL President Director Budiman Saleh as saying on Friday that Senegal would also buy a tanker and cargo ship totaling 18,500 ton in weight.

Senegal also wants to buy a number of other types of ships from PT PAL such as 50 seat VIP ship for use by that country`s President, 250 seat capacity ferry, 500-seat and 2,000-seat high speed ferries with specifications of economic and business class and first class, Budiman said.

Indonesian Ambassador in Dakar, Mansyur Pangeran, said, currently the ship used for the transport of passenger from Dakar to Ziguinchor is imported from South Korea.

"We hope Indonesia could and Senegal could bring to reality the agreement on the ship procurement," the ambassador said.

He said talks on the cooperation in the ship procurement began last year and Conseil d`Administration du Conseil S?n?galais des Chargeurs (COSEC) already visited PT. PAL.

Senegal needs large number of ships, he added.
