The Asian Games will have a positive impact on the rapid growth and development of the area, he stated here on Thursday.
Furthermore, South Sumatra has witnessed many progresses of development since Palembang was chosen to host the upcoming international sport event.
According to Noerdin, South Sumatra has obtained benefits due to the Asian Games 2018, such as the acceleration of development and infrastructure development through the support of funds from various parties, both central and private.
"If anyone says the Asian Games only makes use of the people`s money, then it is a wrong statement," he noted.
He remarked that the international sport event has managed to gain funds, reaching a total of Rp68 trillion, for infrastructure development.
The infrastructures and facilities include the toll road, two Musi Bridges, the addition of airport capacity, and light rail.
Actually, the Asian Games is not a primary goal, but a tool for the prosperity of South Sumatra`s people.
Meanwhile, the Task Force of Head of Lahat District, Marwan Mansyur, conveyed that thousands of local people were present to receive directions from the governor to make Asian Games 2018 a successful event.
