I want to congratulate Mr U Win Mynt for his appointment as the new President of Myanmar."Singapore (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with Myanmar's President, U Win Mynt, in Singapore on Friday on the sideliness of the Asean Summit.
"I want to congratulate Mr U Win Mynt for his appointment as the new President of Myanmar," President Jokowi stated on their meeting held at the Shangri-la Hotel. President Jokowi expressed the hope that the new leader would bring prosperity and welfare to Myanmar. U Win Mynt was elected in March 2018.
The Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security, Wiranto, the Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, the Minister of Trade, Enggartiasto Lukita, and the Head of Presidential Staff, Moeldoko, were present at the bilateral meeting.
President Jokowi will also conduct the gala dinner, with other leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), hosted by the Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, at the Istana.
On Saturday, he will attend the Asean Summit retreat.
