Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo has expressed optimism about Indonesia`s good macro economy amidst the weakening rupiah against the US dollar.

"I believe the fundamental of our economy is good, there is growth, we can manage inflation at some 3.5 percent. Our export is still good, and we have a better record on balance deficit," Joko Widodo, or Jokowi as he is popularly known, said here, Monday.

Other countries are also facing currency depreciation against the greenback because of the impact of the U.S economic policy, noted Jokowi.

The president stressed his administration would hold a meeting of the Financial Sector Policy Committee (KKSK) to discuss issues and efforts to stabilize the rupiah.

Rupiah fluctuation has continued after it has been trading near its lowest since January 2016 in the past week.

Based on the reference rate of the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar rate (JISDOR), the rupiah was traded at Rp13,877 against the US dollar, Monday.

On April 26, the rupiah reached its lowest level at Rp13,930 against the greenback.
