"Through this seminar, we have discussed the challenges and solutions in the health sector in Taiwan and Indonesia. I have also strived to hold a discussion with Taiwan for technical assistance. Last week, we had also been invited to Taiwan for a discussion," Director of Vector Prevention and Control of Vector Disease and Zoonotic of the Ministry of Health Elizabeth Jane Soepardi stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Referring to the situation in the department, Soepardi revealed that the budget they had received is still considerably small, making it challenging to conduct research.
Furthermore, the ministry has sought the procurement of the Insectarium from the Taiwanese government.
"Actually, there is an Insectarium, but it is under the Research and Development Agency, if the Ministry of Health has not existed. Meanwhile, we also need to experiment and understand needs in the health field," Elizabeth noted.
At the seminar, Taiwan conveyed it is intensifying the potential for cooperation in the field of health with Indonesia through the New Southbound Policy.
"I see several areas that can be developed, and most importantly, we also want to share experiences and discuss national issues," Head of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office John Chen remarked during the same occasion.
He believed that the health cooperation between Taiwan and Indonesia holds huge potential, in which the former`s political policies are to be in sync with the Indonesian policy of realizing a Healthy ASEAN community.
Taiwan is also optimistic of providing assistance and becoming the right partner to overcome obstacles in the field of health in the country, as it is one of the nations with the best health technology in the world.
