Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - At least eight people were killed in multiple bomb attacks in Surabaya, Indonesia`s second largest city, on Sunday morning, police said.

The eight were victims of bomb attacks at three different churches in the city on Sunday morning, spokesperson for the East Java Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Frans Barung Mangera said.

"The latest update shows that eight people have died and 38 others are injured," Mangera said.

Four of the eight people were killed at the Santa Marta Tak Bercela Catholic Church, two at GKI (Indonesian Christian Church) on Diponegoro Street, and the other two at GPPS (Central Pantekosta Church of Surabaya) on Arjuna Street.

The police would share updated information on the victims as well as the incident in the three locations.

"Give us time to conduct investigation in the locations. We will have a media center for journalists," he said.

Mangera said, the bomb in Santa Maria Church exploded at 7.30 a.m., while two other bombs in GKI and Pantekosta Churches at 7.35 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. respectively.
